Art lovers are encouraged to visit Wolfeboro on Saturday, September 15, for the Governor Wentworth Arts Council’s third annual Paint the Town event. Area artists will gather at locations in downtown Wolfeboro for a day of open-air painting. Visitors can watch works of art being created and can purchase pieces either during the day or at a silent auction at the end of the afternoon.
This event is planned as part of Paint Out, a worldwide weekend of outdoor painting.
Paint the Town runs from 10am to 3pm, with the silent auction scheduled from 3:30 to 4pm at the Community Bandstand in Cate Park. Look for the artists around town in their yellow T-shirts.
Money raised from the event funds educational activities sponsored by the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, including grants to schools and libraries in five local communities.
Artists can still sign up to be part of the fun. For more information and a registration form, visit wolfeboroarts.org, email the group at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call one of the co-chairs, Debbie Hopkins (569-4994) or Madelyn Albee (569-1701). Artists pay $15 to participate and they keep 60% of the proceeds from the sale of their work. Any unsold paintings remain the property of the artist.
Rain date for the event is Sunday, September 22.
